"I want to help small businesses and nonprofit organizations tell their story" - Dakota Mashak
My journey in marketing began with a drive to help others share their stories. After earning my degree in Management and Marketing from North Central College in Naperville, IL, I discovered that my real passion lies in amplifying the voices of local small businesses and nonprofit organizations.
My early work experiences—cutting grass, working fast food, and taking on other entry-level jobs throughout high school and college—taught me resilience and the value of hard work. After graduating, I started as a marketing coordinator for an educational advancement organization. While the role was rewarding, I felt compelled to dive deeper into the marketing world. So, I began earning certifications in Digital Marketing, Social Media, Nonprofit Marketing, and more from platforms like HubSpot, LinkedIn, and Google, sharpening my skills to better serve my clients.
As life progressed, so did my career. While planning my future with my high school sweetheart, I transitioned into a role as a marketing liaison in the financial tech industry. Although this position was more customer service-focused, it was a valuable learning experience that reinforced my desire to work in true marketing. Along the way, I also had the unique opportunity to work as a canvasser and field organizer for several Illinois political campaigns. Post-politics I conducted outreach for the Services of Will County, connecting vital resources and services to seniors and disabled adults across Will County, IL. Most recently, I have been priviliged to work for the Workforce Services Division of Will County, where I have been able to explore my creative freedom and push my marketing boundaries.
Today, I’m focused on providing comprehensive marketing services that support local organizations in reaching their goals. My skills range from building visually appealing and high-performing websites to crafting engaging social media strategies, designing engaging content and impactful email campaigns, and leveraging SEO to connect with the right audiences. I’m passionate about making marketing accessible, and I believe that every business and nonprofit deserves the tools to tell their story in a meaningful way.
One of the highlights of my journey was being invited by the Chicago Cubs to be part of the 2016 World Series Ring Ceremony—a reminder of the power of genuine connections and celebrations that stay with you.
As I continue on this path, I’m here to partner with businesses and nonprofits to help them make a lasting impact in their communities.
Let’s work together to bring your vision to life,
Dakota
